500 Fewer Items by Summer
A new month is the perfect time to do a bit of declutter before Summer break.
Try the “Day of The Month Decluttering Method”!
This is how it works:
Remove (pass along, share, donate, sell or trash) the number of items that corresponds with the date of the month. Pick items that you no longer need, want, love, or serve your family well.
On June 1st - 1 item - try to pick a bigger one - maybe a large toy or baby item
On June 2nd - 2 items
……..On June 15th - 15 items
and so on until the last day of the month - the last days can be odd craft supplies, papers, old art projects (snap a photo to keep the memory), books or even clothing/ shoe items that no longer fit or are useful.
If you do this, you will be removing more than 500 items - that you no longer need to maintain and will no longer cause you (and your children) stress or overwhelm!
Once you remove the clutter and create “zones and homes” for the items that you have decided to keep, you may discover something really magical - Kids can focus better as they play! Kids can help with clean-up and re-setting at the end of the day! If you donate or share the items, an added benefit is that children understand that sharing with others feels good!
Happy Decluttering!
